India’s label love affair: timeless romance or fading fling?

India’s label love affair: timeless romance or fading fling?

on

For decades, luxury in India has been defined by logos. A recognisable name on a belt buckle or shoe instantly signalled status. But the conversation is shifting.

Across global markets, there’s a growing movement towards quiet luxury — pieces that speak through craftsmanship, materials, and restraint rather than loud branding. Think investment buys that don’t scream for attention, but reward those who notice the details.

India is at an interesting crossroads. The appetite for aspiration is still strong, but a new generation of consumers is questioning whether logos alone equal value. They’re asking: Does this piece hold up in design, comfort, and longevity? Does it reflect me, or just the brand?

This shift is an opportunity. For homegrown labels, it means building trust through design integrity, not just marketing. For consumers, it means moving from buying “names” to buying pieces with character.

Luxury in India doesn’t have to be loud anymore. Perhaps the future lies in subtlety.
